Friends of Trewan Hall

Trewan Hall, forever.

A welcoming community for everyone who’s pitched a tent, swum in the pool, danced in the barn, enjoyed live music on summer evenings, and found a little bit of magic at Trewan Hall.

We are preparing a community-led bid for Trewan Hall — preserving its spirit while securing its future.

Trewan Hall — hero

What is this?

Friends of Trewan Hall is a grassroots hub created by campers and fans. Our goals are to:

  • Celebrate Trewan’s history with photos, stories, and memories.
  • Honour the decades of hard work and stewardship by the Hill family, who welcomed generations of campers and cared for Trewan’s house, gardens, and woodland.
  • Keep the community connected with updates and events.
  • Build support for a community-led bid to purchase Trewan Hall, ensuring it continues to thrive in the hands of people who love it.

Why Trewan matters

Trewan Hall isn’t just a campsite — it’s a place where generations learned to camp, made lifelong friends, and returned year after year. Thanks to the Hill family’s dedication, Trewan became known for its warm welcome, beautiful grounds, live music, and unique spirit.

Memories we share:

  • Throwing a welly in the field on a summer’s day.
  • Eating a Cornish pasty from the campsite shop.
  • Learning to swim in the pool.
  • The rite of passage of entering the teenage room.
  • Family table tennis tournaments in the Ping Pong Palace.
  • Slot car racing in the Round House.
  • Singing the Trewan Hall song with Ken.
  • Playing cricket on the lawn in front of the hall.
  • Community loyalty: decades of repeat visitors; multi‑generation families.
  • Stewardship: woodland, gardens, and historic buildings cared for with love and respect.
  • Cultural life: a home for live music and support for local cultural groups.
  • Goodwill & word‑of‑mouth: a reputation money can’t buy.
